The heart of the ARRIS On Demand solution is the Hypercube Architecture. Conventional, single processor computer systems limit performance to the speed of a single processor. Multiprocessor designs provide a scalable architecture that allows for increased performance as system needs grow. The key to a multiprocessor system is the interconnect - the mechanism that allows the processors to communicate and cooperate.
In an n4x system, processors are connected in a multi-dimensional cube, or "hypercube." ARRIS designs its On Demand products around this architecture because it provides the fastest and most dense communications network available.
The hypercube network is organized such that connections between processors form multi-dimensional cubes. As more processors are added, number of connections scales upwards. The rate of growth of network bandwidth in the hypercube exactly matches the growth of bandwidth demand in the entire system.
