With cable operators now being successful in their deployments of residential telephony services, the next milestone will be penetration into the more lucrative business services market. The T1/E1 product line supports both high-speed Ethernet and synchronous (TDM, Frame Relay, Clear Channel) data enabling support for a wide range of these commercial applications.

The Commercial Service Circuit Emulation product family intelligently transports T1/E1 traffic along with the Ethernet data traffic over DOCSIS channels or Fiber infrastructure. T1/E1 traffic is packetized using circuit emulation technology based on the state-of-the-art Pseudowire Emulation Edge-to-Edge (PWE3), MEF-8 and CableLabs Business Services over DOCSIS (BSoD) standards. By controlling delay and jitter, CES provides the same quality as the TDM networks at a fraction of the cost. Quality of service is preserved for the circuit emulated T1/E1 traffic allowing no degradation of performance.

Scalable, granular and hierarchical QoS is implemented in the ARRIS Commercial Services Aggregator CSA9000 and Commercial Service Gateway CSG440 via per-service and forwarding class queuing (optional per flow queuing for additional granularity). Up to 32 forwarding class queues can be allocated per service and up to 4-level Hierarchical scheduling (port, user/service, class, flow) can be configured. Congestion avoidance and buffer allocation using 4-level hierarchical WRED mechanism ensures that higher-priority traffic always gets the appropriate QoS.

For business services performance, Network Operations Centers (NOCs) require advanced provisioning, performance monitoring, and diagnostic capabilities. The Commercial Service Circuit Emulation product family supports standard SNMP for provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting and fault isolation functionality. Among the many capabilities, supports standard IETF PWE3 MIBs, DS1 (RFC 3895) DS0 bundle MIB (RFC 2494) and privet MIB. Alarms ES, SES, CV, UAS, LOS, LOF, AIS, OOF, RDI, RAI, BER tests and more.
